Decorating a Golf Club

In March 2012 our painters and decorators at HarriDec Ltd were awarded the painting and decorating package associated with the £2million pound refurbishment of this golf club in Surrey. The project was carried out in two phases so as the club could remain open for golfers and functions wishing to use the facilities during the course of the works. Our painters and decorators were brought on board for the second phase of the work which included the main public areas such as the bar, restaurant, reception and pro shop.

The first phase of the works in Farleigh, Surrey had been decorated using vinyl matt paint which had become to look tired and dirty very quickly with people coming and going. For the second phase of the works the architect and interior designers had specified Dulux Diamond Matt, a much more suitable and durable product for a commercial painting and decorating project such as this. Diamond Matt is fully washable and Dulux claim that it is ten times more durable than regular vinyl matt meaning that it has the durability of a modern eggshell with a traditional matt finish. Perfect for a commercial building such as this golf club in Surrey.

For added durability in the changing rooms and corridors we also painted matt lacquer bands up to waist height using a quick drying clear varnish. This provided a bomb proof finish and also, rather surprisingly, an interesting effect as the lacquer created a subtle difference in finishes as the light reflected off the wall. In the changing rooms we also installed a scenic vinyl mural with images of the golf course which can be seen in the picture below.

The contract in Surrey also included installing a fabric backed Muraspec wallcovering to a curved wall which can be seen in the picture below. Muraspec manufacture, amongst other things, wide commercial vinyl wallcoverings that can be tricky to hang. This particular wallpaper named Opulence Tesutto is a non woven covering which is butt joined. It is one of the most expensive in their range at £35 per meter and feels more like carpet than wallpaper! This vinyl also has a class O fire rating and Muraspec recommend that it is cleaned by vacuuming it. You can see the finished product in the picture below.
